Welcome to the Fiber Festival in Sterling, AK. This is a gathering of people interested in fiber arts, fiber production and the community at large. Our goal remains the same, to bring together the best of fiber arts and fiber agriculture and to promote awareness for the general public about the fiber industry in Alaska.
The Anchorage Weavers and Spinners Guild is a non-profit organization dedicated to the encouragement of the fiber arts in Alaska. The guild seeks to promote the exhibition of fiber arts and to inform its members and the public through lectures, workshops and craft demonstrations.
"Olympic Spinning Wheels is a family business located in Port Townsend, Washington. Our goal is to produce beautiful, compact spinning wheels that are efficient and easy to use. Every wheel is made by hand, with wood choices and other features chosen by the spinner."
The mill produces a wide range of fiber related products in small quantities, relative to large commercial millsable to process many different types of fiber. The Coyote Trail Farm and Fiber Mill machines are built by Belfast Mini Mills and are quite versatile allowing us to process extremely fine fiber like qiviut (musk ox), cashmere, and bison as well as wool, alpaca, llama, angora rabbit, mohair, and pet fiber.
